WINVENTORY! Or, how I spend the winter months...

 I love fishing. I love Kayak fishing. I also love Kayak tournament fishing and the highlights of my tournament season are the SaC Kickin Bass for Troops Kayak fishing tournaments. During the season there is lots to keep me busy; Gear upkeep, Yak maintenance, planning, fishing, traveling etc... But when the view out my window turns to this;

It's time to drydock my kayak like this;

Which also means it is time for me to start my annual Winventory! Yep, that's right my winter fishing inventory.

I start by emptying out my soft plastics from my KVD bags and laying them out. These are just what is left in the envelope bags. There are six baskets of backup and accumulated baits as well. I'll make a list of what I want to continue using and how much to replenish and anything new I want to try.

Bait trays get cleaned and sorted paying special attention to my hook box. I make a separate inventory needs list for all that as well.

Two of my absolute must haves are the Yamamoto 5" Senko and what I call my "Sucker Bait"; The Googan Baits Bandito Bug. I gave the Bandito Bug a try when I ran out of my favorite craw and couldn't find any in time for a tournament. I was amazed at how effective they are. It became the most productive tool in my arsenal. Why "Sucker Bait"? Because every time I visit a tackle shop and see them I HAVE TO pick some up. I am a sucker for these craws...

Like most of us I am always on the lookout for something new or that I haven't cast yet. I came across this beauty recently and just had to have it. It's not like I can't do this with any of my Buzzbaits but for whatever reason it never occurred to me. Not really a big Buzzbait user. But this... Yeah baby!
Once that's all squared away I turn my attention to my rods and reels. But that's a whole other issue as are any maintenance, additions or changes to my kayak. All this in prep for when I can do this again;

I'm blessed to be able to have all the freedom to enjoy this passion as well as all the other blessings in my life. I worked hard for all I have but I never forget that the opportunities presented to me in my life are in no small part due to the service of people like this;

Just some of our Service men and women enjoying the care packages they received from Socks and Cookies that would not be possible without the support from all of you who fish our tournaments or donate directly. We thank you all. Clik on the link to help support our Men and Women in service to our country; http://www.socksandcookies.org/
